A housing exhibition showcasing solutions to Bristol's housing shortage opened on Friday (19 October).

Speaking at the launch of the inaugural Bristol Housing Festival, running to 4 November, property expert and TV presenter Kevin McCloud highlighted its importance: "Homes and neighbourhoods in Bristol will emerge where people have had a say on how it all develops.

"What we then make is not just more housing, but we help make places, neighbourhoods and communities, and especially, part of Bristol."

The free modern home exhibition is taking place at the waterfront near Millennium Square while a free programme of talks will run from 25 October to complement the exhibition:

The festival will run for the next five years, during which time new homes will be planned, funded and built across Bristol, by road-testing a range of existing concepts and innovative solutions to help speed up delivery of affordable housing and placemaking schemes.
