Developers have started the demolition of a historic swimming pool in East Bristol to create new affordable housing for the area.

The site at Speedwell Swimming Baths, built in 1937, will be developed by building company Crossman Homes that will create 31 properties with one and two-bedroom flats.

The firm are working with housing association Yarlington Housing Group on the site on Whitefield Road, after receiving funding from Bristol City Council, to create a five-storey block.

Residential developer Crossman Homes signed off on a deal with Yarlington Housing Group at the end of last year, and will be working with Angus Meek Architects on the design.
