A consultation for a new Business Improvement District (BID) has been launched in the Redcliffe area of Bristol, with the backing of a major developer.
Destination Bristol is leading the project and aims to consult firms within the BID area over the next six months to produce a detailed proposal and five-year business plan.
Following this, a ballot will be held in September 2020 to determine if the BID goes ahead.
Redcliff Quarter lies at the centre of the proposed BID area and is joint-funding the BID development with Destination Bristol, with the aim for businesses to work together to increase the area’s appeal.
The second phase of Redcliff Quarter, a £250 million regeneration project, is now under way and will provide 188 homes for private rent, due to be completed in June 2020.
Found between Redcliff Street and St Thomas Street, the development is set on 1.33ha of derelict land, which when finished will transform the area with 246 homes, cafes, a hotel, restaurants, shops, offices and an European-style food court.
The project is a joint venture between Change Real Estate, A2Dominion, ICG Longbow and Cannons Family Office.

Bristol has two successful BIDS running already; Broadmead BID and the City Centre BID. A BID area can work on a number of projects, including carry out improvements to the public realm, improving signs and setting up business networks.
Jo Hawkins, the Redcliffe BID development manager, said: “I’m very keen to meet all eligible businesses within the BID area and we’ll be contacting them all during the consultation period. We’ll be developing a website and sending out regular email updates about our progress in the coming months.”
